Where to eat on Milos when we are full

We are fourteen rooms and one table, and in August that is not enough for everybody. So here is the honest list of where else to eat, and what we take from it.

First, the obvious one: our own dinner is four courses at eight and seats as many as are staying. If you are not staying, we cannot feed you, and in August we cannot always feed everyone who is.

In Klima, eat at the taverna on the waterline with the blue chairs — no sign worth reading, third door from the end. Fish by the kilo, chosen from the box, and they will tell you honestly which was landed this morning and which was not. Get there before eight or wait, and the wait is on a wall above the sea, which is no hardship.

In Pollonia there are four places on the front and they are all fine; the one at the far end by the boatyard is the one locals use in October, which is the only review that counts. In Adamas, skip the front entirely and walk two streets up.

For lunch after a beach day on the south coast, Paleochori has tavernas that cook in the volcanic sand, which sounds like a gimmick and is not — the sand is genuinely hot enough, and the lamb that comes out of it is worth the drive on its own.

Reception will book any of these for you, and will tell you which night not to bother. We take nothing from any of them.
