Perivoli

The one room that opens onto something green — the herb beds, the fig, and the lemon tree that came with the house.

Perivoli is the old store at the top of the garden, with a door wide enough that we leave it open most of the season. There is a third bed behind a curtain, which makes it the room families take, and a long table outside that seats six if the kitchen is willing.

It is also the noisiest room in the house, in the sense that the cicadas start at seven. Nobody has complained yet, but it is worth knowing.
