What you are agreeing to
Short, because a fourteen-room hotel does not need forty clauses to explain a room and a breakfast.
Alkyon is a fictional hotel built as a portfolio piece, so nothing here is a contract with anybody. It is written as a real one would be.
Where these terms and something we said on the telephone disagree, what we said on the telephone wins. That is the opposite of how most of these pages work and it is deliberate.
The whole of it
Holding a room
We hold it for forty-eight hours on an email. No deposit and no card on file. Past forty-eight hours without a reply, the room goes back.

Cancelling
Free up to seven days before arrival. Inside seven days we charge one night; inside forty-eight hours, half the stay. If you cannot reach the island because a boat did not run, we charge nothing.

Paying
On departure, by card or cash. Rates are per room per night and include breakfast and the use of the pool and the cistern.

The tourist tax
€4 per room per night, set by the state and added at checkout. We are not allowed to fold it into the rate, which is why it appears separately everywhere on this site.

Minimum stays
Two nights, three in August. In April and October we will take a single night if the room is otherwise empty — ring rather than book online.

Arriving and leaving
Rooms from two in the afternoon, out by eleven. Earlier and later are usually possible; ask rather than assume, particularly in August.

Dogs, children, smoking
Dogs with notice, not in Kamara or the suite. Children anywhere; there is no fence around the pool. No smoking indoors, freely on any terrace.

Tell us while you are here. Almost everything can be fixed in an afternoon, and nothing can be fixed after you have gone home and written a review.
